FACTORY CONSTRUCTION

STEP 1: FLOORING DEPT

Flooring Department - This first video shows the custom built frame entering the floor department. In this first department the subfloor is produced on a jig system to ensure it is level and square. The subfloor is constructed of 2x6 floor joists on 16" centers. The subfloor is built upside down initially to better access the plumbing and to install the insulation. The custom frame/chassis is brought in and lag bolted to the sub-floor. Its at this point overhead cranes are used to flip the frame & subfloor back to right side up. The OSB floor decking is then glued and fastened to the joists, and the plumbing penetrations through the subfloor are cut-out and the holes sealed with marine grade sealant. The entire floor then is sanded to ensure that all high seams are smoothed. 1 piece lino flooring is then laid over the entire subfloor and stapled down on the edges. The sidewalls will be installed over this to ensure the lino doesn't roll-up or wrinkle. This particular model features a porch, so screen material is stretched across the treated floor joists and Trex brand composite deck boards are installed with hidden fasteners. The final step in the floor department is to cover the entire subfloor with white plastic protecting the finished floor throughout the building process.
